6 DAYS CHIMPS AND GORILLAS IN RWANDA
TOUR ITINERARY
Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest
On arrival at the Kigali Airport, drive to the Nyungwe Forest National Park, on the way visit the reconstructed King’s Palace at Nyanza, Butare Museums and Murambi Memoral. You will have a lunch stopover at Butare and later proceed to Nyungwe National Park. Overnight at Gisakura Guest House.
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking
An early morning breakfast, and later proceed to Nyungwe Forest at 6:00am to search for chimpanzee. You will also track the colobus monkeys in the forest and have a chance to view the other habitants of the forest like birds, reptiles and butterflies. Overnight at Gisakura Guest House
Day 3: Natural walks in Nyungwe National Park
You will have a nature walk in Nyungwe forest after breakfast with a visit to Kamiranzovu Water Falls. You will return to the hotel for a lunch break and later head to Kigali. Overnight at Intercontinental Hotel/Chez Lando Hotel/Okapi Hotel
Day 4: Transfer to Ruhengeri
After an early breakfast, head to Volcanoes National Park and carry out the golden monkey tracking activity. These golden monkeys are the most endangered primates in the Volcanoes. After lunch, you will visit the Dian Fossey's grave. You will later have an overnight at Kinigi Guest House/La Palme Hotel/Gorilla Nest Lodge.
Day 5: Gorilla tracking
Have an early morning breakfast and drive to the park headquarters of Parc National des Volcans. After a briefing from the ranger guides, you will start the gorilla trekking through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virunga. Hiking and tracking gorillas may take 1-8 hours. Sight and stay with the Gorillas for one hour and be back at the base in time for a late lunch. You may have an optional ibyiwacu community walk OR a relaxation at the lodge. Overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/La Palme Hotel/Kinigi Guest House
Day 6: Departure
Depart for Kigali and be transferred to Kigali Airport to find your departure flight.
